Message Who here has a "built" or "race" motor(not stock internals) and has had no, and I mean NO internal problems? I am also curious as to the highest mileage hit on a built motor with no rebuild or internal problems.
This is in regards to a post a couple days ago about the stock motor with 700bb turbos. With What I have found, it seems as though most people with built motors have had significant breakdown, either bearing failure or bottom end failure before 30 k miles.
It seems like there is one or two people a week with a bad bearing or motor failure on this forum. I do realize also that probably %50 is due to a bad mechanic, machine shop, or poor tuning.
I am trying to figure out if it is due to poor rebuild practices from whoever or if it is simply that race motors are not going to last no matter who rebuilds it. I should say that I know and have always known that to have a "built" motor means you will be forfeiting longevity of that said motor.
I have been talking about it with one of my buddies on here and I want to see who has not had any issues and has put over say 75k miles on there built motor with no problems.I know @ 470+ rwhp on my stock motor, I am pushing the limits.
Any input would be appreciated and I know this should get pretty interesting. Thx.
